Wannabeatle

Wannabeatle, originally completed in April of 1996, was meant to be a concept album comprised of oldies-oriented songs written by Bill Gow. Death Before Disco was, for the most part, dissatisfied with the original results. The band salvaged eight of the songs and coupled them with eight of Anthony's songs, six of which were originally meant for an aborted DBD project, The Young and the Desperate. The result, a new version of Wannabeatle completed in July of 1997, contains more traditional arrangements and is less electronic than their previous works. Songs include Bill's masterpiece "Modern Day Romeo" as well as Beatlesque numbers like "Be My Love Tonight" (an obvious Magical Mystery Tour knockoff) and "Tell Me You Love Me." Volpe's contributions included "I'm Tired of Love," "Every Time I Turn Around," and a rather callous tribute to a local church called "Club Paradise."
