Garbage, Inc.

This album was supposed to represent the best of the worst – or at the very least the stuff that didn’t make it onto the previous six albums. Anthony Volpe thinks some of this stuff is still good.  In particular he feels “You’re the One for Me” should have been put on Wannabeatle and “Family Curse” should have been squeezed onto the already-bursting-at-the-seams 15211 West Main St.

Garbage Inc. was originally meant to be a double album.  The plan was to unearth these songs as well as a boatload of other demos we recorded dating as far back as 1986.  Unfortunately, technology was not on Death Before Disco’s side.  Nearly all of these songs were recorded on a Tascam 8-track reel-to-reel deck, and in the 20 years that these tapes were sitting in storage, they became less pliable, causing ungodly squealing.  Volpe  was five reels away from digitally mastering all of their archives when Bill’s deck broke, effectively screwing him out of finally mastering half of Concrete Jungle, half of No Raincoats Required, and about 20 other demos.  Volpe feels at this point that he’ll never recover any of the remaining songs.
