And Then There Were Three
Originally titled The Revenge of Billy Flash, the band's 10th album And Then There Were Three marks the second appearance of Mare, and what an appearance. This is the first time she appeared doing her original work, splitting her songwriting duties three way equally with Anthony and Bill.
Due to the backlog of material Bill Gow, Mare Clark and Anthony Volpe accumulated over the years, the band was originally unsure as to how to work out the track listing for this album and was considering splitting the album's 30 tracks into two albums. Instead, they whittled the track listing down to 18 songs and saved the others for later.
Mare's songs ended up being the standouts of this album, with the monolithic "Dear Sky," the Melissa Etheridge-styled "And She Cries," and the unplugged "Inside His Eyes" garnering huge praise. Bill's long awaited "Bored Shitless" finally found its home on this album. Anthony also managed to rip off Badfinger and Big Star and come up with "Meet Me Tonight."
